Google brings new features to Messages

Much has been said about the expansion of RCS messaging globally, but at the moment it is not getting through among users, despite its wide availability. In this sense, Google has officially presented both the new features and others recently introduced in the Messages application, one of the few options currently available to use the RCS messaging.

The most striking is the launch of message reactions using emojis a function that is also present in Messenger (from FB), Signal or direct messages from Twitter, among other platforms, by the that users will be able to express their emotions in each message by selecting emojis.

During the last month of May came the first indications of the launch of this function, which is starting to become official from today and that you only have to press on each message to obtain a pop-up window to select one of the reaction emojis available .

This function is available for both text, photo and video messages received through RCS messaging.

In addition, Messages for Android will also offer to all those who have smart response suggestions activated some animated sticker suggestions to introduce into the conversation, being available for the moment in English.

Google also refers to the basic image editor to make changes to the images that you want to share, and may even start from a photograph taken with the application itself. Note that this is a basic image editor with the most basic functions that the company accustoms us to in its various applications.

And although it is already possible to send a voice message, it is now possible to create them in a similar way to WhatsApp that is, by holding down the microphone button for a long time while commenting on all the ones communicate.

And finally, users will be able to go from text conversations to face-to-face video calls with the integration of Google Duo. To do this simply touch the video call icon, available in the upper right corner of the application.

We do not know if these functions will encourage users to use RCS messaging, despite the numerous declines that are taking place recently in the popular WhatsApp messaging service, and that this time we are not talking about a service in which Users must register, since it is enough to have an Android phone, a telecommunications operator (or Google itself) that has already enabled RCS messaging, and enable it in the application.
